Background: Born during the roaring 20's, Valerie traveled with her parents when they came to the US from the Netherlands after hearing grand things about the happenings in America. They owned a farm in Oklahoma for several years before the Great Depression hit, when Valerie was a little over ten. Unable to make ends meet, Valerie's family began to move out east in search of work. Using what little funds they had, they purchased a foreclosed restaurant in Albany and dug themselves out of the hole. Valerie worked for her parents at the restaurant as a cook until she was twenty. Then, not long after, Valerie's father was drafted into the military and died in France during the war, leaving Valerie and her mother alone in America. Valerie's mother never really recovered after the death of her husband, and sank further and further into depression and hysteria.
Unbeknownst to Valerie, her mother willingly became bitten by a werewolf, and in a desperate attempt to keep her daughter immortally at her side, Valerie's mother attacked her during the full moon, changing her into a monster.
Nurturing Valerie through her first change, her mother then began to realize that her daughter did not have the control she did. During her first change, in a blind rage, Valerie did away with the woman who changed her, and left Albany and everything she knew.
Wandering the Canadian wilderness and terrorizing the area of Niagara, Valerie only recently returned west to once more attempt to connect with the rest of humanity, despite her obvious social shortcomings.
Random Facts:
- She enjoys the color blue, and it tends to calm her.
- She can make a killer Schnitzel.
- She thoroughly enjoys music, her favorite being old Slipknot songs (funk and metal) but she's been known to listen to songs from her youth, ragtime and jazz.
- She wears the key to her parents' old restaurant in remembrance of their happier times as a family.
- Despite her violent temper, Valerie is quite a bit of a clean freak and borders on a germaphobe.
- Don't call her "Val".
